Braces

Overview

Patient with braces

Braces offer a conservative and effective solution to the cosmetic and functional irregularities that affect so many of us, regardless of our age or gender. With the use of braces and other related orthodontic techniques, it is possible to slowly and gently create smiles that are healthier, more functional, and more beautiful.

Your Orthodontic Consultation

We can achieve dramatic results with braces, and the long-term benefits can be life-transforming. That’s why, in order to ensure that the results of your treatment are outstanding, we first take the time to properly diagnose your specific orthodontic problems. To learn as much as possible about your teeth, jaws, and skeletal structure, Dr. Ellen relies on a variety of trusted diagnostic tools. This diagnostic process may include digital photos, x-rays, and impressions or molds of your teeth. These tools provide us with a wealth of information which will play a vital role in helping to design the perfect orthodontic treatment plan for you.

After your consultation and diagnosis, the length of your orthodontic treatment can range from a few months to a few years. The exact length of treatment depends heavily on your age as well as the severity of your orthodontic condition.

Braces at Any age

According to the guidelines which have been set by the American Association of Orthodontists, a child’s first orthodontic assessment should be completed by the age of 7. This early evaluation helps us to predict a child’s future orthodontic needs so that we may begin treatment at the appropriate time. Early orthodontic intervention can also enable us to guide a child’s teeth into position according to their natural growth process. Taking the necessary action when a child is between the ages of 7 and 11 can prevent the progression of dental and skeletal irregularities while possibly eliminating the need for more complex treatments in the future.

Orthodontic treatment can be beneficial during childhood, but braces are also extremely relevant for adults and teens. Our team strives to provide customized and detailed care for each of our patients, from the very young to the most mature. To achieve maximum success and to meet your expectations, your full participation and cooperation will be essential throughout the course of your treatment.

Creating beautiful smiles with the help of braces is a team endeavor and we’re up for the challenge! To get started, please call to schedule your consultation with Dr. Ellen today.
